Material details

Boatcoat marine grade shrink wrap is a low density polyethylene film available in a variety of widths, lengths, and thicknesses to meet a wide variety of needs.

This material differs from common plastic sheeting in that it shrinks in a highly uniform way and contains ultra-violet inhibitors and anti-brittling strengtheners to protect covers against deterioration under sunlight and to stop it ripping or tearing. It also gives the Boatcoat cover impact strength & elasticity, vital for marine applications including transport.

Boatcoat shrink wrap incorporates resins that when subjected to heat begin a uniform shrinking process causing the shrink wrap to shrink 25% to 30%, which strengthens and moulds it to any type of structure.

The result is a cover that withstands the extremes of winter storms and motorway speeds!

Other accessories used that are complementary to shrink wrapping are:

• Adhesive Tapes
• Zipped access doors
• Vents
• Strapping
• Heat guns
• Gas cylinder trolleys
• Shrink wrap roll stands

Shrink wrap weights:

180microns is the standard weight for marine grade shrink wrap, it's ideal for marine use, freight, vehicles, temporary shelters etc. and is our most commonly used thickness.

300microns is the industrial grade shrink wrap, it's used for large unsupported expanses, scaffolded buildings, and where installation has to be carried out regardless of weather conditions.

Shrink wrap sizes:

Sizes range from 5m to 14m in width and lengths from 15m to 70m.
